The PRISM Framework
PRISM, the Phase-Referenced Interval State Map, is a visual framework for reading how a system moves through phase, state, Event, Drift, stress, recovery, and developmental change. In horticulture, PRISM helps organize plant behavior across intervals so growers and researchers can better understand where a plant is in its cycle, how its state is shifting, and what kind of response may be emerging.
Rather than treating plant development as a simple timeline, PRISM maps change as a sequence of interval-state transitions. This makes it useful for studying plant readiness, stress response, recovery windows, and behavior-driven decisions in controlled-environment agriculture.
